Massive uric acid nephrolithiasis with progressive renal failure due to spontaneous tumour lysis syndrome
Tumour lysis syndrome (TLS) is a constellation of meta- bolic complications due to the rapid destruction of malignant cells, causing renal, cardiac or cerebral dysfunction. Electrolyte abnormalities include hyperuricaemia, hyperphosphataemia, hyperkalaemia and hypocalcaemia. TLS-induced renal failure is mainly caused by uric acid and calcium phosphate crystal deposition and usually develops fol...

The cases of two patients with chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia associated with periarteritis nodosa-like, antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody negative, systemic vasculitis, are reported. A 61 year old man was admitted with fever, diffuse myalgia, and abdominal pain. Blood and bone marrow examination showed chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia. Vasculitis of the gall bladder was responsible for aca...
متن کاملLysosomal enzyme abnormalities in preleukaemic Sweet's disease: case report.
Quantitative and qualitative abnormalities in marrow lysosomal enzymes, suggestive of acute myeloid leukaemia, were detected in a patient with Sweet's disease and monocytosis 12 months before she presented with acute myelomonocytic leukaemia. Biochemical characterisation of blood and marrow cell extracts may help to identify those patients with Sweet's disease and other preleukaemic conditions ...
متن کاملAspergillosis of the maxillary sinus in chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia.
In patients with hematological disease, aspergillus sinusitis occurs more frequently in acute forms (1). To our knowledge, a chronic myelomonocytic hematological disease of leukaemia type occurred in one patient only, with recurrent lung aspergillosis and mucormycosis (2). Here we report a case of maxillary aspergillus sinusitis occurring in a patient with chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia showi...
